Here are the instructions for uploading web pages to PCFA.ORG using Netscape Composer. The FTP location will probably work with other publishing tools, as well. This page limits its content to the process of "Publishing" to PCFA.ORG; see the "Netscape Resources" section, below, for "How To" information concerning the use of Netscape Composer. Begin by loading Netscape Composer (or other publishing tool) and create your web page(s). PCFA.ORG requires that the homepage be called "homepage.html", "index.html" or "default.html". Other pages must have other names. If possible, use the ".html" extension, rather than ".htm". When you have completed your work, choose the "publish" option. The Netscape Composer that is part of Netscape 4.77 displays a screen similar to this (the account "admin" is used in this example; substitue your account name for "admin"):
Note: Quotation marks (") are used in these examples. Do not type them! The example also uses "admin" for the account name. Be sure to use your account name instead! Page Title: When the page is loaded, this is phrase that appears in the web browser's title bar. Appropriate titles are "Home Page", "My Home Page", and "How I Spent My Summer Vacation". HTML Filename: Once again, the first page must be "homepage.html", "index.html" or "default.html". Other pages must have other names. HTTP or FTP Location to publish to: ftp://YOURACCOUNT@pcfa.org/home/YOURACCOUNTNAME/public_html PCFA.ORG requires the file transfer protocol (FTP), so the uniform resource locator (URL) begins with "ftp://". Your e-mail address is next, shown in the example as "admin@pcfa.org". Your "web" directory on PCFA.ORG is actually located at "/home/YOURACCOUNTNAME/public_html" (shown in the example as "/home/admin/public_html"); notice the underscore ("_", which is shifted on the keyboard) between the words "public" and "html". There are no spaces in this entire line! User name: This is your PCFA.ORG account name. Password: This is your PCFA.ORG password. It appears as a series of asterisks ("*"). Save password: Select this checkbox if you want Composer to remember your password. When you complete this dialog box, click the "OK button".
First, you should see a message stating that files are uploading:
When the file(s) have uploaded, you should see a "successful" message:
