The Hempstead-Nevada Amateur Radio Club started on November 08,
1992, with the first meeting being held at the
Emmet Arkansas City
Hall, as a way to install a 2-meter repeater for the area without
any one person doing everything, including paying all the bills.
The repeater is a retired Arkansas Game & Fish Commission Repeater
that WO5A had converted and placed into amateur service at
Bismark Arkansas a few years before.
HNARC moved the repeater to
Prescott Arkansas at the QTH of
one of the members until a more permanent location could be found.
In early 1993 the repeater was moved to a hill southeast of Hope
Arkansas,
where it currently enjoys a 35 to 40 mile range in most directions.
Club officers have been elected (or is that RailRoaded?) and
have taken office.
Serving as club officers are Clayton N5NZB President,
Joe WD4OCJ Vice-President, Brett N5OXP Treasurer,
Paul KC5BXM as Secretary and Newsletter Editor is Dick
KC5FFN.
Club meetings are held the 2nd Sunday of each month @ 2:30pm at the Potlatch Learning Center in Prescott Arkansas, if you are in the area and need directions, give a call on our 146.685- (114.8 PL) repeater, we will be happy to have you.
